The Kentucky Derby is only weeks away and the city of Louisville is preparing for this incredible sporting event.  However, there are also preparations being made to bring in women and children to be sold for money right here in our city.  Attorney General Andy Beshear said in a recent article, “In Kentucky 332 sex and labor trafficking victims were identified by the state from 2008 to June 2015, about two thirds were trafficked as children.” These are only the reported and prosecuted cases.
With this in mind, the theme of this year’s Women’s Tea will be “A Race to End Trafficking.”  It will be a time of education, inspiration and challenge to get involved.  We will hear from speakers from the Governor’s office, the FBI and a testimony from a woman who has lived human trafficking in her own story.
We invite you to be a part of this special morning on Saturday, April 29 from 11am-1pm at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Heritage Hall.    Ladies are encouraged to come dressed in Derby attire ready to shop our Silent Auction of beautiful designer purses – all proceeds going to help women from the adult entertainment industry.  For tickets go to www.louisville.scarlethope.org/womens-tea. Bring a group of 10 ladies and get a discount!
If you have questions, email amanda@louisville.scarlethope.org – we hope to see you there!
